Outlandish Swap III: VOYAGER!

Scottish clans were originally a Highland way of life. The Highland clan was, above all things, a family; a family in which everybody believed they were all, from chief to blacksmith, descended from one founder or progenitor. They regarded themselves as very close kinsmen. This Swap is dedicated to such clan families and will be organized into four clans.

What's in Your Sporran?

A Sporran is Scottish Gaelic for ‘purse’ and served as a wallet and container for any other necessary personal items men might need. For this gathering, a sporran is the package you put together for your spoilee. Instead of dwelling on the clan colors, sporrans will focus on Voyager-inspired themes, such as oceans, pirates, the Caribbean, turtles, and photographic themes, etc. In that spirit, your “sporran” should include at a minimum:

a hand-crafted item – it doesn’t even have to be yarn-crafted. For example, it could be a glass ornament in the shape of a Scottish thistle, or some homemade shortbread with recipe. The item should be inspired by a character or theme in Dragonfly in Amber. Please remember to include a brief explanation of your inspiration. NOTE: This item is separate and distinct from the themed item below
Yarn
a Voyager-themed object – for example, stitch markers, row counter, tape measure, journal, recipe, bookmark, etc. The item should be inspired by a character or theme in Voyager. Please remember to include a brief explanation of your inspiration. This is not your hand-crafted item.
Something sweet/savory (keep in mind the distance and environmental conditions)
• Optional: any other tempting goodies you want to include

Total value of your sporran should $25 to $30 before shipping. Remember, this is the value of your box, not necessarily what you spend – I am all for taking advantage of a bargain. Packages must be mailed no later than November 23, 2009, the Monday before the U.S. Thanksgiving.

NOTE: Delivery confirmation for packages mailed within the United States during this swap is required and must be PM'd to your chieftess. Delivery confirmation costs less than $1 at the US Post Office or is free when you use click–and-ship at the USPS website. If shipping internationally, you MUST provide your clan leader with the Customs Declaration Form Number.

Swap Evaluation

As we finalize the Dragonfly in Amber Outlandish Swap, the chieftesses would like all swap participants to take a couple of minutes to complete this short survey. Results will be used to improve future swaps. It should take about five minutes. (Click the link to follow the survey).

Thanks for you for your participation in the Dragonfly in Amber Outlandish Swap and the survey.
Eilis, Mordag, Fiona, Kellan

P.S. I'll be posting the link to the survey in several locations, in hopes of catching everyone's attention. You only need to complete it once.
